Soft plastic Yum blue 3 1/2" crawfish (we got em local at U.S. Bass, on the Trace...a hidden gem of a pro shop) on 3/0 worm hooks, Texas rigged (with 1/16 split bullet weights)... We are just casting em out anywhere between 5-20 ft off the bank, especially on the main channel where the rip rap rocks meet the bottom...about 15 ft out bringing em in at an angle after letting them hit bottom. After casting, we let em sit, somewhat tightlined, because 2/5 times, a strike or at least a nibble will happen. If you watch a crayfish when it is running from you in a Creek, that's the pull we are using. Pop-pop-pull, using the tip of the pole from a temporarily slacked line to mimic the lurch of a craw that size. Then let it sit. The longer, the better. There are fish here and if they aren't hitting these the action is wrong or your Yum has lost its smell. Bottom line.
Hooked a 7.5lb male and a 6 female plus 2 other 3+ all in one night there...on just those yums... Slower fishing the mimicking craw (kinda playing cat and mouse with it and letting it sit beyond what feels "slow") has been killing it for Both of us all year.
It was very quiet but a good access point to put a boat in and out.
It can be busy with all the boats moving in/out but there are a few good spots for crappy and catfish. I've seen others catch bass too.
The views are priceless, stars bright at night (even with the street lights), and even on busy weekends, there is usually a place to have some room and fish.
Honest Fish To (with pics)
After dark, we have yet to cast that exact setup and go home without fish pics, and sometimes a lunker story...
It's a little long-winded, but hey, I would have given anything to see a post like this when I was first becoming passionate about fishing.
Great place during the day for a relaxing family outing, or early morning walks.
After dark
2 lane boat launch and dock in the front area as well.
Beautiful location for a picnic. According to at least one local, this is a favorite AND secret fishing hole.. Don't tell, but be sure to visit several times in order to meet up with that local.
Well kept, grass is usually well maintained, trash cans with liners and lids are taken care of, places to grill, fire pits
Rhythm is everything in my opinion.
The fishing here is awesome.
Nice fishing place! The water was a bit muddy and murky. It might be like that since it has been raining and storming the past two weeks. But over all I would come back of I can.
If you really want to catch fish, that yum combo hooks consistently larger bass, with more powerful strikes the fresher the plastic out of the bag. Will be investing in some yum craw scent at some point.
Also like to wacky Texas-rig a darker colored senko worm on a 2/0 and pop-pop-sink it off the bottom...
You can fish the front area at night as well.
